Custom Colour with Burt’s Bees

In collaboration with Burt’s Bees

Ever since I first became interested in beauty, I’ve had a drawer jam packed with lip products. It started with tubes of sticky lipglosses in my teens, and progressed onto various weird and wonderful colours that were experimented with once before some kind of makeup calamity saw them hidden away never to be seen again.

The thing is, I’m actually a bit of a lipstick-phobe. Inherently clumsy, I don’t trust myself with bold colours and my list of lipstick related gripes goes on: formulas that feel uncomfortable, leave lips parched, colours that just aren’t quite right. I quickly realised that the most flattering and comfortable choice was tinted lip balm. The Burt’s Bees Pomegranate tinted lip balm that served me well to add a quick flush has evolved into a beautiful range of 100% natural textures and colours that make it incredibly easy to mix and match for the perfect shade and finish.

Burt's Bees Blush Orchid

The closest to my original Pomegranate balm, Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balms (£5.99), come in nine shades – all of which are so easy to wear they have become daily staples and had to be corralled from various bags and coat pockets for me to write this post. Enriched with Shea Butter, they feel really comfortable and make a great base in combination with other textures.

Burt's Bees Blush Orchid

For an easy daytime look, I’ve been swiping on the Tinted Lip Balm in Blush Orchid, a sheer wash of baby pink, and topping it with Burt’s Bees Lip Shine in Whisper. I usually opt for low-shine finishes but, unlike my teenage lip glosses, Burt’s Bees Lip Shines (£6.99) don’t leave my lips feeling gluey, but add an extra boost of colour and shine. Used together, they add a hint of creamy pink and dewy finish that makes my whole face look more alive, even with minimal makeup.

Burt's Bees Red Lip

To tackle my second lipstick related phobia, red lips, I tried combining some punchier shades; starting with Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer (£5.99), which now have extra fruit seed oils (but still have their signature Peppermint Oil tingle), in Cherry. For a little extra sheen, I topped it with Burt’s Bees Lip Gloss (£8.99) in Summer Twighlight. The final effect is just as evening appropriate as a classic red lip but much easier, and more comfortable, to wear.

What I love about Burt’s Bees is the quality. It’s long lasting and gentle – clearly not stuffed full of unnecessary chemicals! Looking forward to trying out the Lip Shimmer. Time for a shop…

You look so pretty, in both colors! I seriously adore Burt’s Bees, it’s one of my favorite brands. Their lip products always deliver! They’re perfect for someone like me, that prefers a more under-done type of makeup look. I own the tinted balm in Rose, & it’s so beautiful. Lovely post!

It feels like forever since I’ve seen your face on here but gosh you are so beautiful. The second colour is just perfect- the sort of colour that makes people glow. Love this

Such gorgeous colours – don’t get me wrong I do love bold lip, but sometimes there’s nothing nicer than a flush of soft colour on your lips!
